Piedmont Eastside Welcomes Interventional Cardiologist

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is pleased to announce that Interventional Cardiologist Abhijit Ghatak, M.D., has joined Piedmont Heart Institute at Eastside.

Dr. Ghatak has been practicing medicine for more than 10 years and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology with additional specialty certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Vascular Interpretation.

He has performed thousands of cardiac catheterization procedures and, in addition to performing stents for coronary artery disease, he is also proficient in performing pacemaker implantation/cardiac defibrillator for cardiac arrhythmia management, stents for blocked arteries in the legs, and structural procedures such as atrial septal defect, or ASD and patent foramen ovale, or PFO procedures for closing holes in the heart. He was also featured in the "Georgia Top Cardiologist " for 2021 and 2022.

Dr. Ghatak is also involved in research and internal medicine resident training. Regarding publications, he has given nearly 100 presentations and written manuscript publications.

Dr. Ghatak earned his medical degree from the University of Mumbai/Grant Medical College and completed his residency at University of Connecticut. He completed his Cardiology fellowship and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida.

Dr. Ghatak's special interest is complex coronary artery disease management, including appropriate utilization of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs).

In his spare time, he enjoys camping outdoors with his kids and coaching them in sports. He also likes to read books related to various topics, including history, psychology and human advancement, and achievement in other fields of science.
