Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has introduced a bill to abolish the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This initiative is part of her efforts as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Delivering On Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) to reduce government spending and ensure responsible use of taxpayer money.
"I just introduced a bill to abolish USAID, the Democrats’ taxpayer-funded slush fund used to push their radical agenda at home and abroad," stated Greene. She further emphasized her commitment by saying, "As Chairwoman of the DOGE Subcommittee, I’ve launched the War on Waste—and USAID is a major culprit lighting over $40 BILLION on fire each year."
Greene added, "It’s time to do what DOGE does best: cut the waste." She expressed gratitude towards her colleagues, stating, "Thank you to my 14 original co-sponsors for joining me in the fight to end waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government."
The legislation is co-led by Congressman Chip Roy from Texas's 21st district. The original cosponsors include Representatives Eli Crane (AZ-2), Andy Ogles (TN-5), Ralph Norman (SC-5), Brandon Gill (TX-26), Diana Harshbarger (TN-1), Josh Brecheen (OK-2), Eric Burlison (MO-7), Scott Perry (PA-10), Thomas Massie (KY-4), Lauren Boebert (CO-3), William Timmons (SC-4), Harriet Hageman (WY-At Large), and Garret Graves (LA-6).
