U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said that Vice President candidate J.D. Vance "has nothing but respect and gratitude for the millions of women" in America and people who try to say otherwise are wrong.
"JD Vance was raised by a single mother, and when she struggled with addiction his beloved grandmother stepped in to raise him," Greene wrote in a post on X. "He has nothing but respect and gratitude for the millions of women and mothers across America. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar!"
Former President Donald Trump, who is running in the 2024 Presidential election, named his pick for his running mate and Vice President at the beginning of the Republican National Convention. Trump named U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his nominee, who received the formal nomination from the Republican party later that evening.
Vance, 39, was first elected to serve Ohio in the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 2022 General Election. He defeated U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), winning 53% to Ryan’s 47%. Vance served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007, graduated from Ohio State University, and received a J.D. from Yale University Law School.
He also is the author of the 2016 book, “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis,” which reached The New York Times Bestseller list in 2016 and 2017.
A Middletown, Ohio native, Vance lives with his wife and three children.
U.S. Rep. Greene is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Georgia’s 14th district since 2021. She replaced previous U.S Congress member Tom Graves in 2021. Greene graduated from the University of Georgia in 1996 with a BBA and ran both a a commercial construction and renovation company and a CrossFit gym in her area.
Greene, 50, was born in Milledgeville, Georgia in 1974. She currently lives in Rome.
