Memorial Day Weekend Safety Tips
Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, so whether you plan on hitting the road or visiting Lake Blackshear we have some safety tips for you.
Traffic Safety
• Be patient and allow extra time for your trip. Do not try to make up time by speeding.
• Make sure everyone is wearing a seat belt before getting on the road.
• Avoid distractions like phones, conversations, eating and grooming.
• Never get behind the wheel when under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
• Make sure your tires are safe for the road and have the vehicle serviced if needed.
Boating Rules and Regulations
• Know Georgia boating laws before heading out to water.
• Review safe boating practices.
• Never consume alcohol while driving a boat.
• Keep a first aid kit on the boat.
• Before boating, always check that there are enough life preservers on hand for every passenger.
