Piedmont & Encompass Health Break Ground on Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital in Columbus

Piedmont Healthcare recently issued the following announcement.

Piedmont and Encompass Health hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today for the future inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Columbus. The 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be located at 8321 Veterans Parkway and is expected to begin caring for patients in summer 2023.

The future freestanding hospital will care for patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries, including stroke and other neurological disorders, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions and will feature all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, and a cafeteria, dining room, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.

The hospital will be an expansion of the current joint venture partnership between Encompass Health and Piedmont, which includes three hospitals- Encompass Health of Newnan, Rehabilitation Hospital of Henry, and Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Phenix City– plus a future location inside Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

Complementing local acute care services, the future hospital will offer inpatient physical rehabilitation inclusive of physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as 24-hour nursing care that aim to restore functional ability and quality of life. Care will be provided by an interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians.
