Covenant College Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
Madelyn Savage, Nicole Restrepo, and Lauren Carr each notched two wins and the Covenant women's tennis team remains undefeated in USA South play following a 6-3 victory over Huntingdon on Thursday at home.
Covenant (9-7, 4-0 USA South) has won four consecutive matches and the win was the first over Huntingdon (5-5, 2-2 USA South) since 2017.
The trio of Scots with two wins enabled Covenant to grab a lead after doubles and hold on to it in singles action.
Savage paired with Gillian Bosko at the top flight in doubles and the tandem coasted to an 8-2 win over Allexii Bassette and Madeline Creel. At No. 2, it was Restrepo and Carr teaming up for an 8-4 victory over Kennedy Harp and Allison Stegall.
Huntingdon captured the third doubles flight, but the Scots took the 2-1 match lead into singles.
Savage bested Bassette once again, this time at the No. 1 spot in singles, as the Covenant junior took a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Hawks top player. The win was Savage's 10th of the season in singles play.
Carr earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Harp at No. 3, while Restrepo rallied for a three-set win over Stegall 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 at the No. 4 spot. Carr and Restrepo have won each of their last three singles contests, while the pair are a team-best 8-4 in doubles.
Kacey Melton also notched a key point for the Scots in the match with her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Meredith Head at No. 5.
