GDOT Approves Bridge Replacement for Old Trion Highway at Dry CreekGDOT Approves Bridge Replacement for Old Trion Highway at Dry Creek

Approved

County of Walker issued the following announcement on November 10.

The Georgia Department of Transportation recently awarded a $1.7 million dollar contract to replace a bridge in Walker County.

Talley Construction Company will build a new bridge over Dry Creek on Old Trion Highway, south of LaFayette. The bridge will replace the current one, which no longer meets design and safety requirements. Construction will be paid for with state funds as part of the Low Impact Bridge Program, which provides funding to replace bridges that are not heavily utilized.

The bridge is currently a two-lane, 120-foot by 27-foot wide structure. It will be replaced with a 200-foot long by 29′-1″ wide bridge, which allows two 10-foot lanes with paved shoulders and concrete barriers on each side.

A detour will be installed during the construction process, which is slated to be finished October 31, 2022.
