Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, currently serving as the U.S. Congress representative for Georgia’s 14th district, has made several notable statements via social media on February 9 and 10, 2025. The congresswoman shared her perspectives on a variety of issues ranging from national naming conventions to federal investigations into financial mismanagement.
On February 9, Rep. Greene expressed her enthusiasm about President Biden's proclamation declaring February 9 as the first Gulf of America Day while aboard Air Force One. She emphasized the need for congressional support for her bill aimed at officially renaming the Gulf of Mexico to prevent future changes by potential "America Last Democrat" administrations. "HAPPY GULF OF AMERICA DAY!! Aboard Air Force One today, @POTUS signed a proclamation declaring 2/9/25 the first Gulf of America Day. Congress needs to pass my bill renaming the Gulf of America, so a future America Last Democrat can’t change it back!"
The following day, she addressed what she views as unlawful actions regarding taxpayer money being used to house undocumented immigrants in the United States. She called for accountability and legal consequences for those involved in such activities. "Breaking the law and sending American’s tax dollars to house illegals. People need to go to jail for this."
Later on February 10, Rep. Greene announced an upcoming investigation by her newly established DOGE Committee into improper payments made by federal agencies. She stressed that this issue transcends partisan politics and highlighted potential savings that could benefit American taxpayers significantly if these financial discrepancies are addressed effectively."This Wednesday at 10 AM, my brand-new @DOGECommittee will be investigating fraudulent and improper payments made by federal agencies. This isn’t a partisan issue. If we can eliminate these improper payments, we can save the American people TRILLIONS of dollars."
