The Men's and Women's tennis teams traveled to Lexington, KY to compete in a four-team invitational at Transylvania University.
The first match was against Greenville University (IL). After the men swept doubles to go up 3-0, all six singles players won their matches. Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn won at 4 and 5 singles in close 3rd set tie breaks to complete the sweep.
The ladies team started off with a strong 3-0 doubles lead, helped by Gillian Bosko and Dani Rappuhn at line 2 with a 8-7(2) tiebreak win. Lauren Carr, Nikki Restrepo, Addi Gunyon, and Alexis Baker piled on four more singles wins to make the final score 7-2 for the Scots.
The second match was against Transylvania University (KY). The men's team went down 1-2 in the doubles play with a sole win by Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn at line 2. The Scots battled back though to win five of the six singles matches. Ben Luke, Ben Onufrock, Gill Dunn, and Graham Hayes won in straight sets while Ethan Gibson won in a thriller 13-11 in the third set tiebreak.
The ladies team fought hard in the doubles matchplay but fell at all three lines and lost the match 0-9.
The third and final match for the Scots was against regional rival Birmingham Southern College (AL). The ladies team battled to a 2-1 doubles lead with wins at lines 2 and 3 from teams Dani Rappuhn and Angel Traylor as well as Gillian Bosko and Addi Gunyon. Freshman Addi Gunyon and Angel Traylor both won their singles matches at line 4 and 6, but unfortunately the Scots fell to BSC 4-5.
The Men's team put one doubles point on the board with Ben Onufrock and Austin Dreslinski getting the sole win at line 1. Freshman Graham Hayes was able to get a solid singles win at line 6, but the Scots fell 2-7 against BSC.
