06/15/22: Notice of Property Tax Increase (Millage Rate Hearings)

The Troup County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a 2022 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 14.79 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Administrative Services Center Board Room, 100 North Davis Road Building C, LaGrange, GA on June 27, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are:

  • West Point Elementary School Cafeteria, 1701 East 12th Street, West Point, GA on June 27, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. 
  • Administrative Services Center Board Room, 100 North Davis Road Building C, LaGrange, GA on July 7, 2022 at 5:00 P.M.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 18.850 mills, an increase of 2.429 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 16.421 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $165.17 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $175,000 is approximately $170.03.
