Ivy Street Fire Near Rossville Intentionally Set

County of Walker issued the following announcement on September 24.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King says a fire in Walker County was intentionally set. The fire occurred at approximately 3:27 a.m. on Sunday, September 19, on Ivy Street near Rossville. The fire heavily damaged an 89-year-old, 928-square-foot residence.

“The fire originated on the front exterior wall of the residence,” said Commissioner King. “The structure was vacant and undergoing renovation at the time of the fire. Anyone with information about this Walker County fire is invited to call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Walker County Fire Department with this investigation. In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered by Georgia Arson Control for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
