Cost of college went up for all students at Dalton State College

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.8 percent for 2018-19 at Dalton State College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Georgia residents paid $4,246 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $34 more than the $4,212 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 198.4 percent more than residents this year, or $12,668. Their price tag grew 0.3 percent from $12,634 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Georgia residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 4 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 728 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.8 million and 150 students took out student loans totaling more than $655,235.

Including all undergraduates (5,118), 3,506 students used grants or scholarships totaling $16.1 million, and 1,068 students took out $5.7 million in federal student loans.
