St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital has been certified as a Primary Stroke Center by DNV, recognizing its ability to manage a wide range of stroke-related medical issues.

“This certification powerfully affirms our commitment to top-tier stroke care for our community,” said Interim Hospital President Freemon Walker. “It validates our comprehensive approach, combining cutting-edge equipment, highly trained staff, and efficient processes to rapidly assess, treat and manage strokes effectively. This achievement reflects the tireless dedication of our team to ensure the best possible outcomes and safety for our patients.”

The DNV Primary Stroke Center Certification is grounded in standards set by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association. The certification confirms that St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land addresses all aspects of stroke care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and education, with clear metrics established for evaluating patient outcomes.

“Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” said Kelly Proctor, President of DNV Healthcare USA Inc. “And it helps demonstrate to your community that you are performing at the highest level.”

The American Stroke Association notes that stroke is a leading cause of death in the United States and results in significant long-term disability among adults. Rapid and effective treatment is critical for improving survival rates and minimizing long-term effects.
