Warren Shaikun, MD, has joined Saint Joseph Medical Group – Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine in Bardstown, Kentucky. Dr. Shaikun previously cared for patients from the University of Louisville Physicians Group and is now part of the Saint Joseph system.
Dr. Shaikun identified a gap in pulmonary care within Bardstown, noting that many residents had to travel to larger cities for treatment. He specializes in diagnosing and managing respiratory conditions as well as sleep-related issues.
He described his early interest in science and how shadowing physicians at University of Louisville Health influenced his career path. “I was really impressed with the team approach I’ve seen in hospitals between the surgeons and the nursing staff,” he said. “Everyone there was working for the patient.”
Dr. Shaikun holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky and both a Master of Science in Anatomy and Neurobiology and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of South Florida before returning to Louisville, where he has practiced since 2003.
Dr. Shaikun said he likes to get to know his patients, “not just their medical condition.”
Outside work, Dr. Shaikun enjoys music, sports events, and traveling with his family.
