Georgia’s 14th Congressional District will hold a runoff election on April 7 between Democrat Shawn Harris and Republican Clay Fuller, after a seventeen-candidate special election failed to produce a majority winner, according to Ballotpedia on March 11.

The upcoming runoff will determine who completes the remainder of former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s unexpired term. With the U.S. House currently divided by a narrow Republican majority of 218 seats to Democrats’ 214, the outcome in Georgia’s 14th District could have implications beyond the region, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Ballotpedia reported that no candidate won more than 50% in the March 10 all-candidate contest. Its March 11 write-up said Shawn Harris received 37.3% of the vote (43,241 votes) and Clay Fuller received 34.9% (40,388 votes), sending the race to an April 7 second round in one of the cycle’s closely watched House special elections.

Governor Brian Kemp, who appointed Clay Fuller as district attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, is urging Republicans to unite behind Fuller in the upcoming runoff. Kemp praised Fuller’s record, calling him “a fearless advocate for the rule of law,” and urged GOP voters to send “this proven, conservative fighter to Washington.” One Fuller supporter echoed that message, saying they want “someone who will support our president,” according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Local 3 News reported that Clay Fuller’s campaign platform highlights four priorities: an “America First Economy” focused on bringing manufacturing jobs back to Northwest Georgia, “Mass Deportation Now” tied to his border-security message, a “Constitutional Conservative” pledge centered on First and Second Amendment protections, and a “Tough on Crime” agenda emphasizing his prosecutorial record and focus on fentanyl and drug networks.

Clay Fuller’s campaign biography says he has combined military, legal, and public service experience, including service as a White House Fellow in the Office of the Vice President and Department of Defense, a 2024 deployment supporting U.S. Central Command operations, work as district attorney for northwest Georgia’s four-county Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, and service as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard.
