Out of a total 622 students, Hispanic students accounted for 75% of the school’s population, remaining the largest demographic group on campus.
The school belongs to the Whitfield County School District, which operates from its central Dalton office.
Within the district’s 22 schools, Southeast Whitfield County High School had the highest number of Hispanic students in 2024-25 with 990 enrolled.
The National Center for Education Statistics reported Georgia’s public school students were 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Georgia schools continue to battle chronic absenteeism after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address the problem, the state department began using a real-time attendance dashboard, launched an awareness campaign and increased support for the districts at highest risk to improve attendance rates.
In 2025, state legislators updated school attendance rules to prohibit expulsions exclusively for absenteeism. The measure included new reporting mandates and coordinated with initiatives aiding students to graduate via alternative routes.
According to data as of 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio stood at about 14:1, more favorable than the national average of 15:1.
