CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital was recognized as a 100 Top Hospital, according to an April 15 announcement based on an independent quality analysis by Premier, Inc. The findings were published by Modern Healthcare. This marks the eleventh time Memorial Hospital has been included on the list.
The recognition is significant for patients and staff because it highlights ongoing efforts to provide high-quality care and efficient hospital operations. The award is determined through public data analysis rather than applications or paid submissions.
Janelle Reilly, Market President for CommonSpirit in Tennessee and Georgia, said, “This recognition comes from the care and commitment shown daily within our hospitals. It reflects the work of our doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators and support staff. They work together to provide high-quality care for our community.” Reilly also said, “This achievement shows our commitment to high standards and teamwork.”
Premier’s program has evaluated U.S. hospitals for over three decades using publicly available information such as Medicare cost reports and data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Care Compare website between 2019 and 2024. The study assessed more than 2,500 short-term acute care non-federal hospitals using ten performance measures across peer groups like major teaching hospitals and community facilities.
David Zito, President of Performance Services at Premier, said: “Premier’s 100 Top Hospitals program recognizes health care groups that provide high-quality care. They also improve how they operate financially… This helps hospitals find ways to improve care, strengthen financial health and improve results for their communities.”
According to the official website of Chi Memorial Hospital Georgia—which forms part of CommonSpirit Health—the hospital system features multiple facilities including three hospitals and sixty-five care sites according to the official website. It is committed to quality patient safety according to the official website as well as enhancing lives through superior patient outcomes according to the official website. Janelle Reilly serves as president of Chi Memorial Hospital Georgia according to the official website.
The broader impact suggested by this recognition includes improved patient outcomes nationwide if other institutions matched these standards: more than 279,000 additional lives saved annually; over $14 billion in inpatient cost savings; fewer readmissions; and better overall efficiency.
