CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital and CommonSpirit Medical Group employees volunteered on March 8 at a meal packing event held at the J.A. Henry Community YMCA, where they prepared meals for local children facing food insecurity.
The volunteer day was part of CommonSpirit’s Humankindness in Action initiative, aiming to support community well-being by addressing hunger among children. The event brought together hospital staff and YMCA personnel to assemble meal kits for distribution to those in need.
“Our mission extends beyond providing health care within our facilities,” said James Williams, Chief Operating Officer, CommonSpirit, Tennessee and Georgia. “This volunteer day with the YMCA is a powerful demonstration that humankindness lives here. It is within our teams and in the communities we serve. We are incredibly proud of our employees for making a difference in the lives of local children.”
Paula Irwin, Executive Director of the J.A. Henry Y, said, “At the YMCA, partnerships are key to our goal of serving 25,000 more people by 2028. We’re grateful to CommonSpirit for working alongside us to help reduce childhood hunger and serve our community.
