CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation announced on April 27 that they are building a new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Ooltewah, Tennessee. The facility is expected to open to patients next spring.

The new hospital aims to address the need for comprehensive rehabilitation services in Hamilton County. It will provide specialized care for adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic surgery, amputation, and other disabilities.

“We see a great need for full rehabilitation services, especially in this part of Hamilton County,” said Janelle Reilly, Market President of CommonSpirit for Tennessee and Georgia. “By building a hospital just for rehabilitation care, we can better help our patients. They can return home with more strength and ability after an illness or injury.” Reilly served as president of Chi Memorial Hospital Georgia according to the official website.

The facility will feature modern amenities including therapy gyms, outdoor spaces designed to encourage movement, a special area for practicing daily activities, and a dedicated unit with 12 beds for patients with brain injuries. When it opens, Lifepoint Rehabilitation will manage day-to-day operations at the site. This hospital will join nearly 50 other freestanding inpatient rehabilitation facilities managed by Lifepoint across the country.

Russ Bailey, President of Lifepoint Rehabilitation said: “We know our partners at CommonSpirit share Lifepoint’s commitment to patient-centered specialty care. Through this partnership, we will significantly expand access to vitally needed rehabilitation services in the tri-state region. We look forward to bringing our evidence-driven therapy models to patients here in Hamilton County and commit to continued investment in high-quality specialty care alongside the team at CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital.”

Chi Memorial Hospital Georgia is part of the CommonSpirit Health system according to its official website. The organization includes three hospitals and 65 care sites; it features hospitals as well as freestanding outpatient imaging centers according to its official website. Chi Memorial has received recognition from leading organizations for quality and patient safety according to its official website, aiming “to enhance lives through superior care and optimal patient results” according to its official website.
