State Representative Johnny Chastain (R-Blue Ridge) has expressed his support for the recent grant awarded to Blue Ridge Community Theatre in Fannin County. The Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), part of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, announced a $10,000 General Operating Support Grant for the theatre.

“I am thankful to GCA for awarding this grant to such a great organization in Fannin County,” said Rep. Chastain. “This funding is a significant investment into our communities’ rich music and performing arts sector, recognizing the important role that the theatre brings to our area for citizens and visitors alike. Not only does the Blue Ridge Community Theatre provide opportunities to showcase local talent, but it also provides educational opportunities for our youth among its many programs. I am proud to see the state recognizing and supporting the powerful role arts and theatre play in our community through this grant funding.”

The grant will contribute to operating support for 104 nonprofit arts organizations across Georgia. GCA has announced over $1.3 million in competitive grants distributed across 49 counties as part of their General Operating Support, Project, and Arts Education Program grants.

These funds come from appropriations by the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. In total, 177 grants were allocated during GCA’s initial disbursements for fiscal year 2026.

GCA aims to empower Georgia’s arts industry and artists statewide by fostering communities enriched with civic participation, cultural experiences, and economic prosperity.
